Isaiah, Holy Prophet, It Befell

Tune: Jesaia, dem Propheten

Download: Booklet

Isaiah, holy prophet, it befell
That in the Spirit he the Lord beheld,
High sitting on His throne, which brightness gave;
His garment’s hem entirely filled the nave.
There stood two seraphim on either side;
Six wings had each of them, and spread them wide:
With two they did conceal their faces bright,
With two their feet they covered over quite,
And with the other two did freely fly;
Each to the other called with mighty cry:

“Holy is God, the Lord of Sabaoth!
Holy is God, the Lord of Sabaoth!
Holy is God, the Lord of Sabaoth!
His glory hath entirely filled the earth!”

That cry the balconies and thresholds shook,
And all the house was filled with clouds of smoke.

Sechs Flügel sah er einen jeden han;
